Rangers of the North : A Roster</font>
_________________________________________</font>

</font>Tolkus and Hallas, two active Rangers of ours, came to me wondering if a list could be made that would show all the active Rangers of the North RP'ing here in the Lone Lands. A good idea. Every month, this thread will be updated with the names of those who are still swinging swords. Anyone who is still interested and active in activities here, post your name and what threads you are in.

In such a way we know who we still have and hopefully that will inspire others to take part in LL threads that he or she is not in presently in. GMs may recruit people here for any activity they wish and Rangers may ask their fellows, here, to accompany them in whatever RPs are going on.

Reminders :

This healer's course that will be given is for not only potential
elven healers of Imladris but also for Rangers of the North and warriors
of the Halcyon Guard. If you would like to participate, this is the

I'm swinging a sword.

Moriel is a Ranger of the North, currently serving with the Flight of Ravens out of Osdolen. Whether that band will continue after our current RP has finished is TBD, so she may be free to join another.

Elrond Edit : Moriel is also RP'ing in the LL-Rivvy RP Caras-ned-i-Fern.</font>

Thanks Aig for accepting our proposal to have a list of all active rangers!smileys/smiley2.gif

So for me all of fellow rangers here are mine:

PC- Hallas Corintur(C.) Pehwarin a young northern d</span>únedain who is currently 20 years old and has been tasked by his father to aid their southern kin of Gondor due great events that lay ahead. The young nobleman is also a soldier attached to the famed Vanguard Company and more recently has become regent of his ancient family due to his father is helping the true heir of Arnor and Gondor</span> (Aragorn II) in the struggles of wide lands that was once the great Northern Kingdom of the Exiles of Númenor Arnor. My bio can be found in the New Gondorian Army Sign up in the Shadowed Lands.smileys/smiley2.gif</span>

Rinon (Stephen) Pehwarin~
Ranger of the North, lord of a noble minor Númenórean family, and father of Hallas
C. Pehwarin in depth description can be found of the Forsaken Inn, page 4.smileys/smiley4.gif

My cousin </span>Hyarion Lossë</font>: A young Ranger of the North age 19 and his story is in the taproom of the Four Winds and has taken up the challenge as the new leader of the Watchers of Sarn Ford. </font></font>smileys/smiley4.gif
</font>

Another ranger that I have created and still getting my bearings on is;

Sorondo( last name forthcoming): His description and short bio so far can also be found of the Forsaken Inn, page 4.

All are active and helping fight back the scourge of the east and the dreaded dark lord Sauron the Deceiver!smileys/smiley24.gif

There's a roster for Rangers of the North in the OP of the Osdolen-thread. http://www.lotrplaza.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif

So this is like Ranger Roll Call? Eirien as well as Thelgar arealive in Paths of Eriador.Edited by: Taranuen

Tolkus

Taranuen if you are refering to the list of groupson the main page those are groups fromed there in Osdolen and does not count all Rangers of the North, also there are some on there that are no longer active plaza members. We thought a place where active Plaza members could list thier Northern Rangers and where they wereRPing would help GM's better with the RPG's and gathering Rangers like Aig has asked. We are so few, I mean litterally we are very few.

16/Jan/2011, 07:20 PM
Aye, Tolkus has said it all for me, Tarasmileys/smiley10.gif. Glad to see you bearing your fair former name, by the way.

I had a ranger called Bréghul in the Deadman's Dike 'Flight of Ravens' thread, though I think it's stalled. I'd rather not bring him into other threads, I'm kind of RLbusy at the moment. It's easier for me to jump into and out of storylines as townsfolk/orcs/whatever than to be committed in many threads long-term.

Cheers,

Moriel
24/Jan/2011, 02:27 AM
Ah since Hallas brings this up, I'll give a clearer explanation here as to exactly what Henneth Annûn is. There is no set plotline, and the function is very similar to Osdolen, in that it is an outpost and refuge for the rangers, where they can meet to report into Mablung and Damrod (played by me) or Faramir (played by the SCR holder- no one at the moment), to rest and regroup, train, go about their daily lives, and set up mini-rp's with other rangers. The idea is that the Faramir SCR will be given out quarterly, and that during their month as Faramir, they will lead an all-ranger RP. If however the Faramir SCR is not given out so frequently for whatever reason and there are enough rangers and interest, I will be willing to lead an RP as Mablung and Damrod.

So Hallas- there is no 'next stage,' you are free to do as you wish. Sorry if that was unclear!

Anyone who has questions, please feel free to ask, we would love to see you down southsmileys/smiley2.gif

I know, buddy, and so has she ; I'm there nowsmileys/smiley11.gif. I put in a call for both places in the Host ooc thread. Alma and Aragwen have gone to Conflict. I just tried to steer Eruwaedhiel towards Henneth. I also made clear that Kyung has asked Valinoreans to participate in Conflict, so I suppose we can assume that thread will have more activity. So trying to get more people in Henneth. Five more folks would be good or six.</font>

I've got a few characters I play, or others use.

Halhigil, a Dúnadan who was once-captain of the Northern Remnant</font> and is currently missing after kidnap by Sharkey.
Thurindir, a Dúnadan ranger who led the Watchers of Sarn Ford</font>, before they were slain some months past. Although the Watchers have been reformed, Thurindir no longer counts himself among them. He was last seen in the Forsaken Inn, unsure of whether to return to Osdolen.
Domhall, a hillman from the clans of common men who live to the north of Osdolen. He currently quests with the Flight of Ravens, in Deadman's Dike.

Hallas C. Pehwarin

I'm going to give things another go (I know! I know! yet again). I tend to have more free time this time of the year and the last time I came back was right as the move was being made to the "new plaza". I had a little difficulty getting engaged. I stumbled on the Lone Lands and felt like it might be a better fit for me so here I am. My only character to this point is as follows:

Barathon, a Dúnadan ranger recently returned from a watch on the borders of the Shire. He is currently making his way through Osdolen to the Four Winds.

I'm slowly working my way back into things and Barathon is not engaged in any quests at this time. I may be interested in joining up with a band, but Barathon is currently on his own.

Tolkus - As you've probably already seen, Barathon is in The Four Winds now. I've PMed Hallasand formally requested to join. I've got the basics of a post where Barathon requests to join already worked up in my mind. I just wanted to make sure that as GM, he was ok with it first.

Okay. I've posted as Malvagor to move the thread along while Naith is away. When Tara is back, I will hand Malvagor's character to her - since she knows him better - if Naith is still not around. Tolkus, play as Aragorn listening to Malvagor. Accept his proposal to help ; Gwaeros, follow Tolkus' lead as Halbarad. I originally had you guys going to leave soon but I changed my mind - I'll let you guys know when it's time for your characters to leave. smileys/smiley11.gif

Thanks, Tolkus ! Yes, I've changed my mind. Instead of sending Aragorn and Halbarad out of story so soon, I would like to keep both characters just for a little while. We're going to find the uh...a group of people who were attached to Aerondir's dissapearance ; we won't find Aerondir but this will give us a chance to introduce part of our villainous cast for Alliance. After we find out who had Aerondir and deal with the people who had a hand in his capture, we'll be switching gears ; we will leave Paths of Eriador to RP in Alliance. At that point I'll have Aragorn and Halbarad accompany Malvagor's company into the mountains to help guide them to Ost-Erthad, the elf citadel there. Our band will never reach Ost-Erthad. Halbarad and Aragorn will participate in the liberation of an elf fort - Ost-Thintir, Fortress Greyguard - which will they and Mal's people will find themselves inadvertently involved in, stumbling across the embattled fortress. The elves and Mal's company will meet each other there and after the battle, Malvagor will tell the elves what's he's told Aragorn and Halbarad about the Blackwolds, Halhigle, and Aerondir. The elves will agree to help and that's when I'll have Aragorn and Halbarad bid both parties farewell because they have a mission - unknown - that they have to go on and they'll wish the allied parties farewell and be on their waysmileys/smiley11.gif. Then you can go back to RP'ing Tolkus fullysmileys/smiley9.gif. Gwaeros, if you like to be a Ranger involved in Alliance, that would be fantastic ; no pressure, just a hopesmileys/smiley11.gif

Hallas, okay here's the deal about Watchers of Sarn Ford. It can't be a thread. Because I have just remembered that bands don't have threads - they use the free RP ones that are here in the LL to operate in. For instance you and our folks in the band can RP their duty in Paths of Eriador. Secondly - I see there are Southrons as the enemies. This cannot be, my friend. The Southrons would never reach Eriador before being stopped by the cavalry of Rohan, the soldiers of the Gondorian military, and most especially and first : The Rangers of Ithilien, captained by Faramir. And the Southrons have no business wreaking havoc in Eriador - Gondor is their ancient enemy and they would want to destroy that nation before they think about attacking anyone else. They are also their closest adversaries. So, the villains you may have our Rangers fight against are brigands who we know cause trouble in Eriador especially in the area of your focus ; you may also destroy any strange creatures (you have a very vivid imagination, I'm sure you can come up with some freaky animals) who are known to spy on the Shire and also servants of Saruman who also spy in the Shire. Of course our characters do not know that Saruman is a traitor and has spies in the Shire so we'll just call them "mysterious interlopers" who you get reports about and need to chase away or slay if they're violent to our watchmen and women. So, begin Watchers of Sarn Ford RP'ing in Paths of Eriador whenever you wish and remember the enemies we will be facing. The band can operate for however long you wish smileys/smiley11.gif.</font>

Ah thanks Aig for that update I had forgotten that all of the northern bands used the existing threads; mostly being the Paths of Eriador and other ranger threads. The enemies that we will most likely face are indeed going to be brigands, "mysterious interlopers", and other strange creatures as to what kind and type that will be a challenge for me.smileys/smiley4.gif</font></font>

Aig, I have a question about Canon, it's with Aragorn. When we participate in the liberation of the fortress does Aragorn carry another sword other than the Shards of Narsil. I can't find anything, or I'm not looking in the right place which is possible about him havinganother sword.

Hallas C. Pehwarin
29/Jan/2011, 06:01 PM
Morning Tolkus! I am going out on a limb here since all of the Chieftains of Dúnedain carried the Shards of Narsil with them during their rule; but probably left them in the care of Elrond Halfelven, when they finally passed on and who had sheltered their royal line since the final fall of Arthedain in 1974. But they for certain would have had a secondary sword of fine make being made either by their own kin or when living in Rivendell during their youth and adolescent.smileys/smiley19.gif

Tolkus
29/Jan/2011, 06:05 PM
I thought he carried it with him because he had it at Bree when he showed it to Sam at the Prancing Pony, but I don't remember him talking about or showing another sword so there is where my confusion lies.

Hallas C. Pehwarin
29/Jan/2011, 06:34 PM
In the books yes Aragorn did carry the shards with him when he was staying in Bree at the Prancing Pony. Tolkien as far as I know never did give any of us hints or tell us if any other of the Chieftains carried another sword besides that of Narsil later reforged as Andúril 'Flame of the West' in 3019. So I can see where the confusion comes from.smileys/smiley4.gif So I think we should have a little license in this regard; unless you wish to go with movies made by PJ in which he carried a ranger warrior sword for the first two movies until the third RotK given to him by Elrond in Theoden's tent at Dunharrow.smileys/smiley11.gif

Karis I was wondering which northern ranger you were playing and you answered my question!smileys/smiley3.gif Umm, Aig even though I'm ready to start the Watchers of Sarn Ford RP I have another concern due Pell as Thurindir has informed us about the Uruk-Hai; are they in existence yet or was Saruman other than Sauron the person to create them?

Beren Camlost
30/Jan/2011, 08:35 PM
As far as I know, Sauron had a race of Orc called Uruks in Mordor and Saruman created his own type called Uruk-hai. But no, I don't believe Saruman's Orcs were created at this time since we are only in the year 3014 on the plaza. And there would be no Uruks making mischief in Eriador. Saruman never sent them north and has no reason to and the presence of super Orc in the north would very much prompt Elrond to ponder Saruman's betrayal way to early. Using them against the Rohirrim well away from Elrond's knowledge would be a better idea and he did do so. The enemies you can use are brigands - mortal thieves - which we know operate quite a bit in this region that the Watchers do their duty and the "strange persons</font> and creatures prowling about the borders" of the Shire (Prologue, Lord of the Rings).</font></font>

That's what you need to work with only. Thieves, mysterious people (Saruman's servants but we don't know that ; make sure no Ranger finds out), and strange creatures (I guess those were Saruman's spies, too, or possibly Sauron's). There can't be Orc because none ever since the Battle of Angmar long ago ever came that way again to pester the Shire or any place in that area. And Saruman has not made his Uruks yet and even if he did, he would not send them north or risk (and especially too early) the immediate questioning of Elrond which would frustrate his plans for Endor domination.

I strongly suggest that you edit any mention of Uruk-hai out of your post or I must do that myself. And out of any others. Have it be that you must go after a band of highwaymen if you like at the present. There are plenty of robbers in that area and travelers and civilians could use the help of the Watchers smileys/smiley11.gif

</span></span>Before Hallas has his posts edited, I think I should clear some stuff up, since those in Osdolen are only reacting to information included in my Thurindir posts...
</span></span>The first Uruks appeared in attacks on Gondor in Third Age 2475</span>1</span>. I don't think I stretched canon too far in having them present in Third Age 3014, especially when no direct mention of Saruman is made, only the presence of his sigul, which as yet is unknown by the powers of good. Secondly, I only make mention of the Squint-Eyed southerner as a villain, and he is a canon character who acts as Sauron's spy in the north in the years before the War of the Ring.</span></span>

Just as an outside observer (and admittedly not having read all the posts behind the confusion), can I just ask for a bit of clarification, Pell? Where do you mean you had the Uruks present in 3014- continuing in Gondor from the 2475 reference, or in the north in Eriador, as Hallas was wanting to have them? Personally I cannot see how it is plausible to have Uruks running around the north, but if you know something I don't, I'm all earssmileys/smiley11.gif</font>

...so I can't ask for clarification on a lore issue that doesn't require reading all the posts? I note that you haven't attempted to answer my question at all, which leads me to believe that you have no evidence to back it up- assuming that your assertion is that Uruks could have been in Eriador in 3014. Which I'm still not sure if that was your assertion or not, and clarifying whether it is was part of my question which you refuse to answer.</font>

Pellaadarion
30/Jan/2011, 11:53 PM
You can ask for clarification on a lore issue, in fact you already did. Why you want to challenge my telling of Thurindir's tale without even reading the related posts suggests you're more interested in acting as the Canon Police than enjoying all the possibilites that creating this new Lone Lands area gives us; developing a new Dúnedain ranger legend which expands on Tolkien's original text.
If I now need to justify each post I make with a lore discussion in a completely unrelated thread then so be it!

Since Uruks were present as early as 2475 and because the Dark Lord's strongholds of Mordor and Angmar both continue to exist in 3014, there is no reason Uruk-Hai can't exist also, whether bred in Mordor or Angmar. I don't want to get confused with the Uruk-Hai of Saruman, who were his later attempts to create a special breed of Uruk-hai who stood taller and were more resistant to sunlight.
If you read my posts before commenting, or indeed any posts of the core group who are responsible for most of the activity in this area, you would have already come across the Uruks in our posts, offering a taste of the dangers that Sauron presents in these dangerous lands. Instead you're posting here a year too late, asking me to justify including something I first placed in a post made months ago.
If I'm over-reacting then too bad, I don't see why when activity dwindles and the entire plaza grinds to a halt you still want to try and stifle creativity if you fear it interferes with YOUR idea of what's canon.
If I wanted to be completely canon, I could go re-read the books instead of writing here.

Moriel
31/Jan/2011, 12:03 AM
I'm not trying to be the canon police- I just had a question and found it astounding that you would refuse to answer it at all. If you have information which makes it seem plausible for Uruks to be running about, that's all well and good; it's your story, not mine. As I said above, if you know something I don't, I'm all ears. Stifling creativity is my last object.

True it seems that the plaza as a whole has become more canon, but that doesn't mean that stretching canon is a crime, my primary character is a peredhel who can turn into a wolf, for goodness sakes (long story). I didn't mean to "challenge" anything- merely seeking clarification. I may not be part of "the core group who are responsible for most of the activity in this area," but I play here too, and if there are Uruks running around, or the possibility of them, I'm curious to know why and how that is so. That's all.</font>

Pellaadarion
31/Jan/2011, 12:24 AM
Well with all that in mind, then I'm sorry I over-reacted Moriel! I don't have any special information, I just rely on the books for inspiration as do you.

My comment regarding the "core-group" wasn't an "I'm on the inside, you're on the outside thing", in fact, with my inactivity and those of my closest friends at an all time high, there is no longer any one group of players who are steering this area in a concerted effort. In fact, lots of new and old players alike had risen up and kept the Lone Lands as one of the most active parts of a the plaza, and that's an awesome thing.
Further to that, you were right to ask for a bit of clarification, but taken as your post appears right after Aig's request that Hallas delete all reference to my posts, it just seemed like a second voice arguing against stuff I've already written and put to bed!
It's disheartening to spend time and effort writing a story post, then spend triple the time again justifying each component part in case someone disagrees. I've tried to never make a point of telling someone what they wrote was wrong, or trying to make them trip over their own facts when I challenge their story. I know now that wasn't your intention at all, but it was what I immediately thought upon reading your first post.
Anyhow, that's me saying forgive my rudeness.

Can't say I've enjoyed reading this. Well done Pell for a respectful response.

I will say given that I knew the storyline intended for Thurindir as it was first appearing and continued integrating it and laying foundation for it in subsequent posts in Paths of Eriador with Eirien, and in the Forsaken Inn, the fact this is being queried now surprises me. I can only assume no one read those posts in the past or Pell's - and I am surprised given the wide inaccuracies, embellishments and developments in plaza RP for the purpose of entertainment and elaboration, something this harmless is scrutinised. And so long after the fact.

I was rather happy with the posts in Paths I made pertaining to this, and if anyone wants my words deleted, then that person can do the deleting of them. I certainly won't be doing that.

If there's no specific information denying it, then I don't see why it can't be used (not that you need my permission obviouslysmileys/smiley3.gif), that's my general guideline.

Naith, my first introduction to the question of Uruks running around came through reading this thread. I wasn't aware that the groundwork had been laid so long ago, and as I said above didn't mean to try and disrupt anyone's story, was just curious as to why they would be here.

I believe the thinking is along the lines of a test of strength. Saruman is experimenting, and yet to perfect his monstrosity. He is not yet unveiled for the villain he is, but there are Orcs a plenty in the wilds on the hunt. If there were no threats to the borders of the Shire there would be no need for a Watchers of Sarn Ford. So in Pell's imagination, Sharkey has sent some forth to test the strength of the Rangers, presumably having taken all precautions necessary to ensure they never get traced back to him. This threat that in Pell's story has all but wiped out the Watchers in this time, poses a terrible problem and presents a dangerous, inexplicable and unexplained menace. The Rangers of Osdolen, in order to combat such a mysterious threat, need first to re-establish the Watchers. Why, after that, it may prove impossible to discover where this large brutish breed of Orc came from! Let's hope there aren't more about! In the meantime, we must be on vigil.

Right, though I can't account canonically for Uruks or Uruk-like creatures in Eriador, I personally don't see why they shouldn't be, and find Pell's (and Naith's) reasoning sound, if somewhat 'stretching canon.' However, I am of the opinion that sometimes stretching canon is the only way to keep things interesting, as long as there's no overstretching, and I don't see that being the case here. Especially since this particular plot was introduced months ago, it's a bit late to start taking it back now, even if there was a need.

I'm glad everything's been resolved and I hope we can go back to having fun together. =)

Alma</font> - Osdolen is a good way to start for a ranger. You can have it be that your ranger is new to the job and wishes to swear him- or herself to Aragorn to get started, or that you're an older ranger in search for a new band or adventure to join. Hallas' watchers are currently in Osdolen, I'm sure they wouldn't mind another member of the band. Ah, my friend that I have him consider himself one via by his father's blood as belonging to the northern dúnedain and not the southern line of his mother though he could be consider both since he was raised in the realm of Gondor by his mother and her family; whom resided in her husband's family ancient summer manor house in the sixth circle of Minas Tirith. That he is one of the north is a closely guarded secret and only known to a few individuals being his girlfriend Likus and a few trusted people in the armed forces. It's where you can list all your NPCs and what they're like, if you're interested. You can update it whenever you want. But anyways - so Sorondo and Rinon...they're both in the Prancing Pony ? K, I'll edit that in the OP. Tell me if that's right *g.

Thanks my good friend so here is a gift from me! * Rinon Pehwarin father of Hallas gives the elf and the fellow ranger each a pair of a two piece set of black leather vambraces tooled with the likeness of a seabirds or swan's wing outstretched in silver and two rich black cloaks; whose interior side is lined with soft grey velvet including the hood* I would be delighted to post my numerous NPC's there for you to peruse at your leisure!smileys/smiley4.gif

Hmm...I think that's a matter of your own personal decision. Usually, I just bold whenever I give a GM prompt and I only bold names in actual text. I don't recall ever using bold all the way through, since it seems that on the plaza it means some form of direct emphais on a matter that you think you need people to understand. I'm not sure if I should tell you to bold all the way through because it might feel so unnatural to your RP'ers (I won't mind though during the duration...I like bold, see PAM lol)....but if that's what you want to do, I guess you can. I'm undecided, perhaps Merl would know what is best in this situation, being the elder Rulersmileys/smiley4.gifsmileys/smiley11.gif Oh, and thanks for the gifts, they're awesome 1

Time Warp : Fail. I deleted it, I see, man smileys/smiley7.gif. So sorry....can you make it over well enough again ?...really, all I can remember you saying was where the Watchers were based and who was leading it (your character) and was the present fell situation was. Again, so sorry smileys/smiley13.gif

Time Warp II : Oh and a mission statement...that was there, too. And this is embarrassing for me, too, so don't feel bad.

Hallas</font>, why would you want to bold everything? Usually to me that makes things even more look like a jumble of text than normal text does. Ultimately it's your decision, but as Aig said, usually GMs only bold the important parts so people notice, otherwise it's more difficult to indicate what's the important part. ;-)</font>

To all of my fellow rangers and folk of Eriador, I wish to apologize for not having my upcoming RPG The Watchers of Sarn Ford posted in the Paths of Eriador thread. That is due to the ongoing story and that if I placed my RPG in the middle of it that the new story would only cause some confusion and possibly annoyance to the thread runner of that story.smileys/smiley13.gif So once it is wrapped up I will launch it with a bright colorful banner that is going to be made by Aig's lovely wife.smileys/smiley2.gif

Hallas - I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say don't worry about it. When it's up, it's up.
However, I think I should give everyone a heads up that I will be away starting next week on Thursday evening (the 17th) until the following Monday evening (the 21st). I'm heading out ice fishing with my Dad and some friends. There is no internet at our cabin (the place barely has running water and electricity) and definitely no internet out on the ice. If the Watchers goes up during that time, I'll just catch up when I get back.

Thanks Tolkus and Hallas. I'll try to stay dry. I've been doing it for years and the worst I've done so far is step in a hole a few times. I'll try and keep it that way. Stepping in a hole isn't fun, but it is not nearly as dangerous as actually going through the ice. The lake we fish on is usually pretty reliable by this time of year as far as ice conditions/thickness goes. I am more concerned about the amount of snow or slush on top of the ice.If the snow and slush is too deep, then you can't take 4-wheelers out (they'll get stuck). That could mean a LOT of walking. It's a BIG lake so it's not exactly a good time if we have to walk it in deep snow, carrying all of our gear.

It means a lot to me, Paul, and I wish you the best in MT and that hopefully I'll get the chance to RP with you in SL.

Aig: It was no easy decision, believe me. I did it really on the day I did it as a gift to the missus. I feel with LL things are in good shape, and I'll be posting still in the RPs and so on as before. I also think SL is in good hands, and is moving forward. I want to try to help there with that as much as I can and offer Kathy my support. That said I made a home here in Eriador and I can't say it was a simple thing to switch.

The Rulers of Eriador have been very supportive of me, and I hope to continue to work with you into the future.

Sent my thoughts to you through PM. Please contact Aig and Eriador Rulers re: what I said. I think it's valid. If we can have a thread about a tree, then I think Sarn Ford is a suitable thread. It is canonical, and although other bands won't have their own thread, they will also not have a fixed location, so it is fitting. They are also bereft of their own canonical reference. I think Sarn Ford and it's Watchers could be a suitable exception to the rule that bands do not have their own threads beyond Osdolen. See what the Rulers think about it.

Hallas C. Pehwarin
18/Feb/2011, 04:57 AM
Got your PM and will definitely raise the points you have given to me and see if the case can be given approval. Another update as to the wedding, We being I and Likus have decided to hold the wedding until after the completion of the Sarn Ford OP. Thanks, Hallas and Tolkus !

Has anyone ever had so much delicious food on your plate, you really don't know which one to devour first smileys/smiley9.gif smileys/smiley3.gif.

Anyways, Alliance, right. Remember how I said in the Welcome thread months ago that my superiors wanted all Host threads to show in Lorien so they told me to move Alliance from Lone Lands so it would appear in the other elf kingdom ? Well, things are different and I've moved it back to LL. What's up ? I'll tell you.

Well (I think I only said this to Naith), the Host of the Eldar has disbanded. Wait, don't panic. I'll explain.

Months ago, I wanted to make things more canon but scribe and Kalandria were wary because they didn't have the numbers ; they were right. I proposed that that a canon military union between the Rangers of the North - Naith, Tolkus, Gwaeros, Hallas, Arnyn, everyone who plays here, Lhun, Karis, Pele et cetera - and the Rivendell troops would be beneficial to both the Lone Lands and Imladris.

Imladris would be the Halcyon Guard, named for the Bruinen kingfisher (okay, that's un-canon, but I had to call the elf warbands something) would work with the Rangers in Eriador. The Swan Guard - Lorien's host - would be that realm's elf peacekeeping force. The Kingsguard would be in Mirkwood defending their lord and the forest from the troubles of their wood.

Everyone said no. I said okay. But now Lorien and Mirkwood have more people so the Rulers decided it was time to disband. And they are right. So now Lorien and Mirkwood have their plaza militaries, and Rivendell has its own.

During the Alliance story, the Eldar Union Army still exists. But at the end of it, I will have Elrond tell Aig - his Herald and High Captain - about the disbanding and that the Rangers will work together with the elves.

Ost-Erthad is our citadel thread presently but when the mission that is being run there is over, I will be changing the OP so it reads that the new base is located in the moorland a few miles from Rivendell, which will be the base of operations between the Elves and the Dúnedain.

Osdolen shall remain as it is. Elves will go there to team up with Rangers if they like to go on missions with them. Ost-Erthad, Rangers can go to so they can team up with them to go on missions as well. When I'm ready to change Ost-Erthad so that Rangers can post, the thread itself we'll pretend takes place after the Alliance partnership - so would Osdolen, I'm supposing.

After Alliance, I'll be keeping up with theme of co-Elf/Ranger partnerships for RPGs smileys/smiley11.gif. And know that it will never be mandatory but if people want to work together, if there is always a consensus at the time, then we'll play together.

I'll let you all know when Ost-Erthad gets changed so all of you can start taking part if you want to and when I change it, I'll let my elves know they can start posting in Osdolen when they wish as well.

Also we got more of their ilk coming from another passage, so let's erase that problem lol.

Hallas, that would be awesome. You can be one Ranger who was trying to find Gwaeros and Mallor, have sought the company for days. If you like, you meet us on the borders of Eregion ; Me, Ghost, the boys, and Moriel can find you there smileys/smiley2.gif smileys/smiley11.gif. You could even post just observing the movements of the thieves, so that way we can make up some sort of plan when we all meet and split up into groups. If Naith even likes, he can even post as his bad guys early now ; they could be in the House of the Mírdain, down in the vaults.

The Sword ? Well, it's non-canon but we've had Celebrimbor forge this sword called Alcarinque, the Glorious, which has a jewel which holds the light of Jupiter set within its hilt. As we know, his skill rivaled Fëanor's, so I'm sure he was quite capable of making such a device to sustain such radiance.

Well, it says in Unfinished Tales that Celebrimbor and his forgers had their smithies and treasures hoarded in this edifice called the House of the Mírdain. That's where the sword can be found, most likely.

In the RPG, Elrond found out that some thieves were stealing treasures out of the vaults of the House of the Mírdain. He wanted this to stop and so he dispatched a band of elves to get rid of them - and to find the Sword because he believes it's the most valuable item. Aragorn sent some Rangers to help the Elves out and they are with the elven team now. The team is presently in the Misty Mountains on their journey, and battling robbers who have holdings amongst the peaks.

Sorondo could have gotten word from Aragorn but has come a different route and can be waiting for the elves and his Ranger comrades outside of Eregion smileys/smiley2.gif smileys/smiley11.gif

Tolkus, great line, mansmileys/smiley3.gifsmileys/smiley24.gif. Missed seeing ya' around, buddy ! As soon as Naith is back from vacation, we'll be continuing our adventure in Paths of Eriador, the tie-in to Alliance. And will continue with Caras then as well. I'll see you in Watchers. I'm also going to be bringing Rillewen to Osdolen soon. I wonder if we should make a new day there...I can always have her show up by herself in the common room though since Khallador is already there...more on that later.

Welcome to the Lone Lands, Rillewen, and it's beginning to be a pleasure RP'ing with you smileys/smiley2.gif. You'll like us here ; we Rangers are a very close-knit group of friends. We'll get Emeralda meeting the other Rangers at Osdolen ; Khallador can be asking her to come by smileys/smiley2.gif. *Goes to get in his next post*

She could even show up in the RP where we are now, as if she had been there all along. And having a new day, fairwell for the Watchers, would be a good way for new Rangers to meet us and get in the RPGsmileys/smiley11.gif

We'll do that then, Rillewen smileys/smiley2.gif. If you like, when the guys are ready to start the new day, Khallador can be just walking in with Rillewen and introducing her to everyone, will be leaving with the team to go to Sarn Ford smileys/smiley2.gif.

Welcome aboard, Kylesmileys/smiley24.gif ! How about you come by Osdolen to declare you intention in character ?

And we could get you RP'ing in the Watchers of Sarn Ford with Hallas' next update.

There's an RPG for the Rangers and Elves called Alliance and I'd like to see you there - when it's time. Right now it's not the moment that both parties meet. With Naith's next update happens in the Paths of Eriador - a free RP thread in which there is a tie-in story to Alliance - we can get you started there, too. Basically months ago a group of Rangers - Naith included, a major character - got into a confrontation with a sinister band of criminals known as the Blackwolds, who are agents of Saruman in Eriador (though they only know the wizard as a renegade Istari, Sharkey) and a Ranger got kidnapped.

Alliance is a tale about rescuing that Ranger - and another who was stolen from the Forsaken Inn by unknown forces who we are now engaging in Paths of Eriador - and crushing the Blackwolds once and for all smileys/smiley24.gif.

In the meantime though, we'll get you started in Osdolen. I'll make up a post tonight about making it a new day ; wait for my post before we get you RP'ing there smileys/smiley11.gif</font>

K, going to try to get to Paths of Eriador before work (it's in a few hours) and edit my recent posts in Osdolen so I can speak of knowing Kyle since he's now partnering up with me and Emeralda. Kyle, since Khallador inevitably gives Emeralda a week to decide if she wants to join or adventure with the Rangers, perhaps Khallador and your character can get into some sort of quest together when he leaves her. Or maybe, to just give Emeralda a better taste of what Rangers can do, she can go along with us and what she will experience will move her to make her decision - and yours for also wanting to quest with Rangers. This would all be in Paths still. Sound good ?

Kyle, also, it's fine that your character is an elf who hunts the scum of the earth with the Rangers. Presently, Naith and I are trying to build momentum for the canon strong relationship between Elf and Ranger, so it's cool !

Rillewen, yeah - you can make up a hundred NPCs or more for this site smileys/smiley2.gif.

Oh, and Kyle, our meeting would have to had happen by the present goings-on in Osdolen. Because I mentioned Emeralda...and you're with us now...so I must edit and will let you know as soon as I do that ; will start my post in Paths like in half an hour smileys/smiley11.gif. Haha, yeah Rillewen and I had a fun time yesterday night laughing about her 'being' a troll smileys/smiley30.gif. Good thing that rank titles doesn't mean you actually have to play that rank smileys/smiley9.gif.

I know where they are both playing at Tolkus and I'll put it in the OP smileys/smiley11.gif ; thanks for reminding them, we always need to know where all of us are smileys/smiley14.gif.

Everyone, again, as soon as Naith is back, we'll be continuing with the prequel tale to Alliance in Paths of Eriador smileys/smiley24.gif</font>

Aig ~ I'd like to join in the Alliance RPG too as my Ranger character Emora. Is it free to all Rangers now or only to the ones who signed-up to it prior to the start of the RPG? Also, could you give me a quick synopsis to the story on the Rangers side so that I have a pretty clear idea as to what happened and what is currently going on? This is so that I could find a way to jump into the story the proper way, if it is open to all Rangers now. Thanks in advance!smileys/smiley1.gif

Beren Camlost
08/Apr/2011, 06:48 PM
Angel, you're awesome !! We really need more Rangers in that because - before you signed up just now - it was Naith, Tolkus, Gwaeros, and Hallas.

K, so basically here's the thing : In Paths of Eriador there was a short story called Road of Kings that starred Naith's character Malvagor. Mal and his band got into a confrontation with these band of dangerous thugs called the Blackwolds (guys even destroyed a village, Trestlebridge). At the end of Road of Kings, we find out that the Blackwolds are servants of a wizard named 'Sharkey' (Saruman) and during the end conflict, one of Malvagor's friends - Halhigle - got captured and taken away, seemingly in the direction of Deadman's Dike. Malvagor's band got split up during the fight. The story ended....

...and was continued in the Forsaken Inn. Aerondir and Suro - people in his band - were revealed to have been trying to get help from citizens and Rangers, the last few months after the incident, to join forces with them to smash up the Blackwold gang. Aerondir disappeared sometime during the thread and Malvagor, who dropped by the inn to also recruit people for the same reason, found out about his friend's disappearance. So with his new team - including my characters Beren Camlost (an adventurer) and his friend the wizard Galen the Green - he set out to track the people who took Aerondir. That plot ended and....

...continued in Paths of Eriador. Presently, Malvagor and Tolkus, Gwaeros and Sornorno (Hallas' character), Beren and Galen have tracked the people who stole Aerondir and are now battling them and trying to locate Aerondir.

I'm not sure what Naith's plan is to finish out this plot but I know it will inevitably conclude with the Rangers making for the Misty Mountains. Galen the Green advised Malvagor that he should contact the Eldar Union Army in the mountains, that they must go to the fortress of Ost-Erthad, so that they can get better help from the elves to destroy the Blackwold threat to Eriador.

So, you can be one of the Rangers that heard the story of Malvagor at the Forsaken Inn and decided to follow him and have been with the Rangers ever since. If you like, you can wait to Naith's new update in Paths of Eriador to start fresh there.

At the moment in Alliance, it's just the Elves doing their thing. The battle that they are in now is about to come to a close and I will be updating it. The elves are going to encounter a band of fleeing soldiers from an elf fort called Ost-Thintir in the Misty Mountains ; it will have been attacked by werewolves. The elves under High Captain Mordagnir will link his forces with those elves and go to Ost-Thinntir to liberate it from the werewolves.

As soon as Naith has gotten the Rangers towards the Misty Mountains in Paths of Eriador, the Rangers can then begin to post in Alliance. They will be stumbling upon the battle at Ost-Thinntir while they were searching for Ost-Erthad and help out the elves against the werewolves. After the battle is over, Aigronding Mordagnir will approach Malvagor, thanking him for helping save elven lives, and he will ask if Naith is on a quest and if there's anything he can do to help. That's when Malvagor will speak of the Blackwolds - and then together, Elves and Mortals will band together and leave the Misty Mountains to go save Halhigle, find out why Rangers are being abducted, and destroy the Blackwolds once and for all smileys/smiley24.gif </font>

This RPG is going to be awesomesmileys/smiley10.gif ! I just need to get my elves out of the present situation we're in now and then get the Rangers going in the RP as soon as Naith has us done in Paths. Hey, that's even better ! Just read the revelant post in Paths of Eriador and post as Emora ; you can be beating up the bad guys alongside Beren and Malvagor, then head off with them, following where Mal is goingsmileys/smiley24.gif</font>

hey, i got a new character i wanna try out, and i had an idea of rp'ing with one of you rangers.. anyone besides Aig wanna rp with me using my newest character? (reason i said besides Aig is because 1, he's busy with other stuff, and 2, i've already got a rp going with him in Paths of Eriador)
anyways, just thought i'd post the question about it here, where the rangers gather. lol.
In fact, Aig suggested i ask Tolkus or Gwearos about it.. lol</font>

It's an important city in Gondor. Prince Imrahil was there. You can find the great town in the Shadowed Lands region. Again though, it's in SL. Let's not talk about it here. PM'ing Moriel is fine.
