An ominous cloak and hood of madness has taken over Erebor. In the dark depths of the Lonely Mountain, in the very bowels of the earth, a wooden chest has been dislodged from the dirt. Inside it lays an AXE enfolded in a skin-like pelt ; the edge, razor-sharp. It emits spectral colours....vermilion and madder, scarlet, blood, carmine and crimson, maroon and magenta; bleeding the very air with hues of evil power, working its evilness over all other axes and all who touch them. Dwarves who take up their axes suddenly begin to go mad. Their eyes turn red and drool dribbles from their slack lips. They repeat an eerie mantra -'chop hack mince, oil pump!' - as they shuffle through the halls swinging their cursed axes. And tho' the Dwarves & Co of the Lonely Mountain are a tough breed - or at least they deem themselves so - can they truly escape the curse of the AXE??

'One AXE to rule them all, one AXE to find them.
One AXE to bring all AXES together and in the darkness start choppin'.'

Welcome to a Special Halloween Ever Ending Story

This game is simple. Someone will start the story with a couple of sentences based on the short intro I posted above and leave it with a...

Someone else will finish the sentence and continue the story ending it with... for the next person, etc. etc.

Now to make it a bit more fun, every 24 hours I will be giving you 3 prompt words.
Example: roof, temper, butcher

You may choose 1 word to include in your post. If you choose the correct word, selected by me, the dwarf, for that round, you gain a point. Please BOLD the word for my old eyes to find more easily. Thanks!

And for this Special Halloween game I will be giving you 3 gory colors to choose from also. If you BOLD your word with one of the colors, selected by me, the dwarf, for that round, you gain another point. Wow, you gots to love the points...*grin* And, if you especial like a word in your post to be one of the next prompt words, BOLD it in your posting color and I will randomly selected these words for the next round.

There will be ten rounds. The one with the most points at the end to the game wins. Yeah!

Simple Rules

From previous experiences with Ever Ending Story, the story reads much better when signatures are off. So if you wouldn't mind switching your sig off when you post, it would be appreciated.

Three or four lines per post would be awesome, 1 post per round please.

If two or more posts are simultaneous, the first post will be used for the continuation of the story.

That's it! HAVE FUN!! And remember, the more random your ideas are, the better the story is. Make this Halloween the sickest Ever Ending Story ever...Muhahahahaha

'Mock, hap, chink, oi bump!' yelled little Bombur Jr, spraying saliva everywhere. He was only a toddler dwarf (sooo very short and fat), so he wasn't the best at speaking yet. Interesting note, dwarf young'ns don't need bibs because they already have little beards to do the job. Anyway, he was getting the chant wrong. The older dwarves who heard this, being under their mad AXE curse, became enraged, turned towards Bombur Jr and...

Thankfully for Bombur Jr., he didn't really like people trying to bite him, so when they came toward him open-mouthed with axes and forks in hand (nobody quite knew where the forks came from) he ran away as fast as his little legs could carry him to a nice hole in the ground behind a rock. Thanks to his speed, none of the adults quite knew where he had gone... at least not until a burp escaped from Bombur Jr's mouth. With glowing eyes, the adults turned and...

As one of the adults mumbled something about gobblins, the whole group stopped. Bombur Jr couldn't see what was happeneing but he did get a vibe. Run or try to lead the adults astray? A strange noise came from one of the adult's stomach. Oin blushed. The group was moving again, while Bombur Jr...

Oin's belly was making noises, and with all the talk about goblins, they began to suspect there must be a baby goblin growing inside him trying to get out. Males dwarves were pretty much indistinquishable from female dwarves, and since all their vision was a bit blurry because of the curse, they assumed Oin must be a pregnant lady dwarf who'd got together with a goblin. "It's not what you think!" Oin screamed. "I've ate nought but a carrot today! That's why my belly's grumbling! There's no goblin in me. Just carrot!" ...

... The angry mob chased Gloin through the dark caves swinging they axes frenetically almost as if they become possessed. Some of them even pulled out forks, knives and spoons. They couldn't think of anything else but to eat Gloin. They ran throgh narrow passages under the ground driven only by the smell of dwarf flesh until they reached a larger cavern that had 3 doors. There was no sign of Gloin anywhere, as if he simply vaporized. The adults looked at each other curiously, not knowing which door to pick. One of them couldn't resist and approached the door in the middle. As he grabbed the handle he opened the door slowly. An insufferable squeak filled the cavern with buzz. As the door opened completely the dwarves couldn't believe their own eyes what they were seeing. ...

They had been ready to devour Gloin, but instead were confronted with this. "Where's that insufferable squeaking coming from!?" one of them questioned. That question was answered for them when a disgusting mutant looking thing crept out of the shadows. It was the monster Hamtur! Half hamster, half turtle. Never before seen in Middle-earth, and now being fed by King Dain II, who bent down and spooned his own eyeballs into the creature's mouth. As expected, this...

... came completely unexpected, for Dain was a very respectable and trusted dwarfish ruler. The crowd of dwarves looked first at their ruler and then at each other not knowing how to react. If the king was feeding a moster, it means he was some kind of evil monster breeder, thought one of the adults. After finally saying it out loud, the crowd became suspecious and angry. Dain felt the anger and pulled a little whistle he had hanging around his neck and blew it. Hamtur suddenly became angry and ferocious. His growl filled the heart of the dwarves with anguish, but they didn't pulled back a single inch. The grabbed their axes and stood their ground. The hideous creature stood up on his back feet and waved its terrible claws at the dwarves. The adults threw themselves at the creature without wavering, a terrible fight began. Hamtur was defeated, lying there breathless and covered in blood but many of the dwarves have been injured too. They lost much of their energy, now they really needed to eat something... and fast. They tied Dain with ropes to a pole and carried it on their shoulders like a tribe of wild men carrying their pray to the village.
Many of the dwarves began already to fantasize about how to cook their ruler. Some even began to drool. But just when it seemed that nothing could go wrong, comepletely out of the blue a strong breeze blew out their torches. The cave became dark and quiet. The dwarves couldn't see a thing, they couldn't even hear their own breaths. Someone in the crowd manage to light his tourch again. Dain was gone. There was great uproar among the dwarves now, no one really knew what happened or where they were. Sunddenly the 'floor' beneath them moved and so did the 'walls'. A stench appalled everyone.. there were rests of crabs, fishes, birds and other animals everywhere around them. The dwarves heard a strange noise. 'Fili, was that your stomach?' asked someone in the crowd. ...

... "No, 'tis Fastitocalon! Look!" Fili yelled, pointing at a gigantic monstrosity which was groaning like a beached whale. It looked as if it was carrying the Lonely Mountain on its shelled back. Fastitocalon was a great sea beast, the last of the massive turtle-fish, large enough to carry cities. The lands had parted and there was a great body of water stretching to the horizon. And Fastitocalon was swimming off with their mountain on its shell! Perhaps the Lonely Mountain was nought but a big barnicle and had always been on its shell, and the sea beast had simply been waiting underground for the right moment to return to the ocean. The dwarves pursued. They could not have their home taken from them! And if they could slay the beast, they would have a large dinner to enjoy that night. But something odd was in the air, and each time they got close, a wild hailstorm would let loose and...

...and injure seven dwarves at a time. There were a lot of hailstorms, so the dwarves' numbers were dwindling fast. The storms seemed to cease for a while as the dwarves fell away, and a great fog descended on the sea. All seemed lost for some time until, from out of the fog, a tiny figure appeared. It was little Bombur Jr, surprisingly the fastest of all the dwarves, and he had somehow clambered on to the back of Fastitocalon. Great cheers arose. After the treachery of King Dain II, a new hero was rising. Bombur Jr would reclaim the Mountain! But he was just a little lad after all, and all this exertion was more than he was used to. He suddenly fell to his knees before an enormous amount of puke exploded out of his mouth. Things were looking bad again, but to everyone's suprise, the puke...

... contained some sort of acid so toxic that it drilled a hole in the floor. Bombur Jr had actually toast for breakfast that morning, reason why he just stood there in wonder. The group of dwarves couldn't dwell there any longer, for the floor began to shake so intense that they could barely stand in their feet. Perhaps it was time to forget about their mountain and search for a new place to call home. Fili jumped first in the hole... the rest of the group followed him shortly afterwards. Bombur J jumped in last. They fell so deep and fast that time itself vanished. The hole seemed to have no bottom. Even matter vanished... the dwarves found themselves in a huge endless empty space and couldn't feel anything. It was as if the whole world has simply disappeared. What devilish occurrence could have cause all these?
Fili, the wisest in the hole group, said toward the others: 'Fellows, this shall be our new home. You may not be aware but we are standing on a blank piece of paper that awaits to get painted. And a new world shall arise, a world after our own design.'
Fili cleared his throat gently and began to sing and as he sang a new world emerged: mountains and fields, grass and trees, animals and birds, oceans and continents, stars and constellations. Everything was so beautiful that everyone just stood there dazzled and wowed the whole time. Everyone but Bombur Jr. He thought that if the new inhabitans of this world would ever learn to love and apreciate the beauty of the new earth, it would be through contrast and so he sang as loudly as he could to cover Fili's voice. And as he sang every thing in the new world received its counterpart. Parts of the world sank in darkness and the dwarves felt something they never felt before: anger. They looked angry at Bombur Jr and Fili shouted: 'What have you done fool?' Bombur Jr hanged his head in shame and hid behind a maple. The evil has been done, there was nothing anyone could do about it.
The dwarves had now a new home but still needed to find a mountain under which to reside. There was now seven of them left. ...

...and as they stood wondering what to do, a black hole appeared in the maple tree. It grew and grew until seven dwarves could walk through it abreast. The inside of the hole was dark except for a wispy fog that floated out in spectral colors ...vermilion and madder, scarlet, blood, carmine and crimson, maroon and magenta; bleeding the very air with hues of evil power, working its evilness over all other axes and all who touch them. Again.
Sounds of wet slack slurps and mucus moans belched from the hole. Bombur Jr, peeked out from behind the tree. He was indeed a chicken. More puke, mostly toast, fell from his mouth onto his shoes. He began to cry. Fili was shaking.
He stood beside a stout dwarf with snow white hair and beard. Her name was Floila. She walked over to Bombur Jr. and handed him a tube. Bombur Jr. looked at her and said, in a high squeaking voice, 'I don't wear lipstick!' Floila raised her eyebrows in disgusted and exclaimed. 'Its not lipstick you ninny! Its toothpaste! Use it to brush your mouth!' She then walked towards the hole in the tree and looked in. After a moment, she turned to the others and said. 'Our home is in there. Let us........

After Bombur Jr finished brushing his teeth he said to the others: 'We must look deeper into the new world. We will find a mountain so high, that its peaks will always be covered in snow, a mountain so steep, that no on will dare disturb us, a mountain so rich in minerals, that we will have enough of them until the end of our days'. The dwarves got only as far as their short legs could get them and as the night approached they all got tired and searched for a suitable place to spend the night. The memory of the great feast in Bilbo's hole was distant and yet so vivid in their mind. They were so hungry, they could almost smell the divine scent of fried meat. They had to settle for a few fruits and a tasteless soup made of roots that night though. The air was pretty chill, so the dwarves searched for a dry place on the ground to sleep on close to each other. Perhaps also for safety reasons. Some lone ranger, distrustful of strangers may have been passing near by, as they usual do during the night.

The adults took long before they could fall asleep though. There was no sound of cricket or owl, no buzz or even a breeze of wind. Everything was so still and quiet.. something not really to a dwarfs liking. Just when they thought they could finally rest undisturbed, the dwarves heard a noise somewhere far away. They couldn't quite tell what it was but it didn't sound like a friendly noise. Bombur Jr, the youngest in the group, could hear much better and as the noise came closer he said: "I hear drums.. like those in the..." and then he looked petrified at the others and cotinued: "like those in the halls of Moria". The dwarves became restless. They hold tight to their axes and courage. Could this really be their end or was it just a dream? ...

It was definitely fun to write. If you put all texts together, you can make a good bed time story. If there are still kids out there without a playing station, it may even become a best seller  :XD:
Hat off to you too Drifa for updating this thread regularly and for being such a wonderful host.
Also congrats Gnatty
