I've loved this idea ever since Kyung mentioned it to me.I'd love to sign up to be a Guardian for any newbies who venture into Lore. If you guys are looking for OOME Guardians I could do that too: I must pass on the ways of spam to a new generation.

I don't know the plan for promoting this thread to newbies, but do you think there should be a question added to the Town Hall questionnaire in relation to this Guardians thread? Something like: "Would you like to sign-up for a guardian to help you find your feet?", and have "guardian" link to here in a new tab as an explanation?

As I said, I don't know the plan, but I think something like that might help newbies find this thread if they missed it initially, since quite a few newbies do fill out that questionnaire.

We have added a link to the Guardian thread in the welcome PM we send out to all newbies, but adding it to the questionnaire as well is a good idea. I'm also going to head by the PR group now and ask them to tweet/FB the program.

It's always great to meet new people! There's definitely a great community, but being a relative late-comer (compared to some of the people in this thread...) I can still clearly remember what it's like trying to get a sense of the site and how things work. People around here are nice and welcoming, so please don't hesitate to ask anything!

Btw, Moriel, are you a native Irish speaker or just a fellow Celtic enthusiast?

Not a native speaker; I used to live in Ireland and started learning it in school while living there. I've lost a lot since I moved back to Alaska, but I'm still trying to teach myself! It's a great language to sing in too. I also play the bódhran, and tin whistle (badly).

For gaelic and celtic enthusiasm. I study the history and mythology as well as the language (history is one of the degrees I'm working on).

It's not necessary to spend a lot of time to role play (RP). It depends how much you want to get involved in, really. The Plaza's role playing is pretty easy paced, so depending on what RP's you want to get involved in, you could choose if you wanted to make one post a week or four a day. It's really up to you how much time you want to spend.

I am not a fencer, however I am an actor and stage combatant (training in rapier, broadsword, dagger, unarmed and various polearms), and character performer and fighter at my local Faire! So, given you name, interests and desert island items (what are you going to do with the sword and buckler, exactly?!) I think we'll get along

Same questions as Eldo though; we're more than happy to give you a general overview of how things work around here, but if you know what your main interest is (RP'ing, Lore, Art and Poetry, etc.) we have people who can help you more specifically

Hey, Victoriana! Do you want your character to be from one of the Regions in particular? I know some of them often have RP training threads running. There's also a training thread in this forum, it was right under this one last time I checked. That should help you figure out the basics. If you want one of us to help you out, there are a bunch of Guardians who specialize in RPing, and I'm sure any of them would love to help you. I hope you have fun!

I'm interested in art, I know now there's a place called the Cottage of Lost Play.And I'm also interested in role playing, but I'm not quite sure how it works here. I know I have to join a race, but I'm not sure what I should do next?Or what would happen if I didn't choose a race, could I still role play?
I don't know if there's something like a tour through the site or something like that, but it would be great. :)

Welcome to the Plaza, Chokita Bananas! Your username is awesome, and also, your guess is right. A Guardian is someone who will show you the ropes and answer all your questions. Take your pick since everyone here is excellent. If you scroll up to the very top of this page, you'll see a list of the available Guardians. If they have CoLP beside their name, they are knowledgeable about the Cottage of Lost Play. RPing, which means Roleplaying, is something you need too, right? From what little I can see, Raven seems to be the perfect Guardian for you. Just tell us if you intend to kidnap choose her, or someone else. This is just my opinion though. Haha!
